9 to 5 Comes To L.A.

Dolly Parton appeared at the House of Blues Friday for a “sneak peek” press and group sales event in Los Angeles for 9 to 5: The Musical , a new musical comedy based on Patricia Resnick's 1980 hit movie that starred Parton, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin opening September 20 at the Center Theatre Group’s Ahmanson Theatre.
The new ladies of 9 to 5 are: multiple Emmy winner (West Wing) and Tony Award nominee (A View from the Bridge) Allison Janney as Violet Newstead(Lily), Judy Bernly(Jane), played by Stephanie J. Block, (currently starring on Broadway as Elphaba in Wicked), Doralee Rhodes (Dolly), played by Megan Hilty, (currently starring as Glinda in the LA production of Wicked).

Parton has written the music and lyrics, with the film's original screenwriter Patricia Resnick penning the musical's book.
"9 to 5 was my first movie and it was an amazing experience bringing Doralee Rhodes to life," the country music icon and prolific songwriter said in a statement.
"It's been a lifelong dream of mine to write a musical and now I have the chance to not only make Doralee sing, but to bring all of Patricia's wonderful characters to life on stage."
